The council's budget priorities follow recent debate over Seattle's homelessness plan, which Seattle Red analyzed to examine what is actually new. Meanwhile, DJC reported that a big tiny house village is set to open.
Regional housing supply and investment trends also remain in focus. According to The Urbanist, most Puget Sound cities are not keeping up with their housing growth targets. Within the city, however, Multifamily & Affordable Housing Business reported that Seattle continues to draw investors as supply pressures ease.
Across the city, public events and neighborhood activity brought additional developments. GeekWire reported that protesters disrupted the Seattle AI Week kickoff, where AI optimism met backlash over data centers. In West Seattle, Westside Seattle and the West Seattle Blog reported that low-flying Army Blackhawk military helicopters conducted low passes over the area. Elsewhere in the city, Seattle magazine highlighted where residents can see Seattle's chum salmon run up close.
